guys please realize it that ALT-TAB might cause graphical issues for any card no matter NVIDIA or ATI.
Both compnaies claimed the ALT-TAB issue is somewhere in windows and this is not offficial way to get back to desktop so you might loose for example AA+AF.NVIDIA has this implemented better way.Back when I used ATI 8500 I had the same problems loosing AA+AF in LFS when I did ALT-TAB.I think this is more ATI drivers issue for a very long time then LFS issue.I dont want Scawen to spend ages just because there is also mess in ATI drivers.
If LFS use DX8 then there is no possibility to implement Game controlled AA+AF.LFS would need to be DX9 application.
Also if you will set up profile with ATI tools the overcloking will be applied only in 3D mode.Download always latest version which have a lot bug fixes.
You can report the loosing AA+AF on ATI pages.Just describe what is the issue, how it happend and in what game. The more of you will report the higher it will get on the bug ladder for ATI drivers team.
1) Get rid of omega drivers and install the original one from ATI . Get 7.3 Catalyst version.there has been already reported various issues with 7.4 version in LFS.
2) If you have LCD 85hz is not supported so it must be 60Hz.
Well I am thinking you might have that huge widscreen sony monitor?
3) Why you put there 1 85 1920 180 .It should be 0
4) I am not sure why you have in CARD_CFG.TXT HVS as 1.There shouldnt be such a line if you have W patch.I think Scawen turned HVS on by default.I dont have that line in that txt config file.
Mine looks like:
I hope you dont run LFS from packed archive.I mean it should be extracted.Sorry for such a stupid question but I saw already a lot of guys doing that and then complaining about various issues.
could you please post here the file "cfg.txt" from the main LFS directory.
I will update it for you and you will be able to use that resolution.
Or you can edit that file your self.
Try to find a line called "Screen Info".
Mine looks this way: Screen Info 0 75 1024 768
Your should looks like: Screen Info 0 60 1920 1080
What about Thermaltake VC3000BWS Armor Jr. (478 x 210 x 495 mm)
1x front 120x120x25 mm, 1300 rpm, 17dBA / 1xback 120x120x25 mm, 1300 rpm, 17dBA included.
Also tidyyour cables in your case/future case. You could do much better.
Some space would definately save if you would buy SATA DVD writer so you could get rid of theose 80pin wide cables. They shorten the space in case a lot.
Btw - isnt the Zalman CPU cooler nice piece.I had someone and couldnt be happier.
That looks better but there is still missing something thought.I dont think you can do much about that because of the screwed mapping of textures in LFS.I think some pixel shaders effect(some not requireing a lot of GPU power)would definately help to loose the plastic effect.I hope you know what I mean.
To be honest I am very much suprised by your progress with these textures you made so far.Nice jump from the day we started talking about it and made 1st things.
I wish I had some time again to contribute as well but unfortunatelly I dont have any right now.
very nice update.I didnt see the textures live yet but hopefully with my experience I can tell that the track texture looks very plastic especially on this picture.I mean it doesnt looks much like road/track surface.
I am not really notebook guru as I am more in desktop PCs but I heard that when comparing Vista and XP on notebook the battery with XP last much more.Already some notebook makers complaint to MS about this.
Maybe its bulshit but I read it somewhere. You might notice I really dont find anything usefull on Vistas now.
If you play with Notebook and want full performance of that Pc you have to plug it into wall socket otherwise its well know that notebooks slow down internally when only powered by batteries.
Also disable all power saving future in windows and bios as this slowdown the sytem as well. These things should have definatelly help unless you have very crappy GPU in notebook.
X2 Turion is notebook processor version of Athlon 64 X2.These are really fast CPU.
Ach,because you wrote above Geforce 7800 so I got confused by your decision to X1400.Now I get it.IF I would have an option I would go with something like Geforce 7600 GO but this would reduce battery time a lot thought.Hard to make a choice...I know
Btw the latest Samsunbg 226BW and LG 226WT are one of the best 22"LCD moniotrs even they use TNT matrix.TNT technology is moving quickly forward so I would not claiming something like TNT is shi* dont buy it.
If you want LCD for some semi/professional photo editing then its only way to go with S-IPS panels. The PVA panels has on the othewr way a disadvanatges showing a lot of noise in videos.TNT doesnt produce something like that nor S-IPS.There is every drawback in each of the LCD technology nowdays.TNT panels for example have advantages in response time.
Well the P4 are first very hot CPUs and eat a lot of energy.
Dont be fooled by the Mhz thingy. This could be a place where to look back in Pentium 3 ages but its absolate nowdays.
There is no way that P4 is faster then C2d E4400.
To have some proof check the link please. There is also D945 the one you wanted to compare.About 20percent loose to E4400 in games + E4400 running much cooler, less power hungry.
NVIDIA 7600GS is up pair with 6600GT.
7600GT is a bit faster then 6600GT
Snark,
I am really sorry that the card seems to be really broken. Its not drivers realted issue due to card showing the artifacts already when you boot your PC.
I have 3 things to say before you will threw away that card.
Try to put off the cooler.Clean the GPU,apply new thermal paste and put back the cooler. Also if you have anything overclocked in your PC try it without.I know some motherboard dont have LOCK for AGP bus and when you overclocking and the AGP bus clocks get beyond whats accetable and the grahic cards start getting weird then.IT can also damage your card. Also try to turn fastwrites off.
If nothing help from what I have mentioned then you need new card.
guys.We went a lot offtopic and I would like to see continue discussion about this pretty interesting topic but it should be moved to Hardware thread.
what I have already read somewhere(sorry didnt saved link:shrug. That latest 8800 series and 2900XT series has much more calculation power for physic calculation then that Agea Physic card.
Both NVIDIA and ATI working really harčd to support physic calculation thru GPU and I am bloody sure they are looking at this part of market.the problem is that there is still not right time for that.If it would come and Agea would be come to really do something and supported I think it would be their quick end as ATI and NVIDIA would start using part of the GPU for physic calculation. Its in my eyes better and faster way as physic and graphic can be linked at the same time in GPU so there are virtually none latencies and PCI-E bus is much better for that.Upcoming PCI-E 2.0 with double bandwitch in both way even more.
I am afraid Agea will die pretty soon unless it will be more supported.they dont have the money for that thought unless like NVIDIA or ATI(AMD).
Also dont forget we getting more and more cores on the modern CPUs and they become pretty unused.I gues with 4,8 cores some will be used as dedicated CPU just for physic.I have really doubt about dedicated PPU in future PCs.I see people are already pissed they have to spent another money for something like that. The game would have to be huge revolutionary with physic things to be card like from AGEA really needed. When you look at todays game market when more is better then quality then I see no way.
The Alt-tab thingy is Windows issue not LFS directly.
NVIDIA nor ATI dont recomend using ALT-TAB when you want to minimeze game. They said its Windows issue and I never heard Micorosft would say something against it.
I had same issue with other games as well.Nothing new.Sometimes the ALT-TAB work weird in windows.
Maybe this is nonses idea but I guess loggin here is somehow IP tracked.
Would be nice for server admins to know that IP adress and set ban on the demo servers for such a guys?
just pretty quick idea and I didnt think about it hard.Came to my mind really very quickly.
Can confirm with your MPR replay.Only background, connection list and no sound.ESC worked for me as well.
I am using W25 now.
EDITED: - Bug report - MPR replay cant play
I joined W23 host(24 train server #1). Saved replay and when tried to play it I get the same problem as Kamo. When the replay is loaded I am stuck at background screen,no sound, connection list visible only and thats all.ESC work at least.
Thats why I have suggested him the PC case above with 400W.
The full load should be around 220-225W.Its always better to be ob save side and not to push PSU to the limist especialy with the cheap one models.
Also 8600GT support DX10.I am not saying it will fly in DX10 games but 7900GS and 8600GT are for the same price. Its hard decision as he is very limited on budget.I would go rather with ATI X1950PRO from overclockers.co.uk but then would be another 15GBP and I am not sure Eddster would accept it.
